NU to prepare managers for secondary education

ASTANA. August 27. KAZINFORM The Graduate School of Education of the Nazarbayev University will help to prepare leaders and policy makers in the field of education, Deputy Head of Faculty of Education at Cambridge University Colleen McLaughlin said in her interview for PM.kz site.

"The graduate School of Education has connections to the Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and it helps to develop leaders and policy makers in the field of education," Colleen McLaughlin said.

She also noted that the Graduate School would be focused not only on preparation of candidates for master's and doctor's degrees, one of the aspects of its work would be research in education.

"We hope the Graduate School will make a contribution by research, by actually researching what's happening in education. In my own country, research in education has being very important and helping raise the quality of education," she said.

According to the Deputy Head of the faculty, the admissions process has not been finalized yet, but the most important is that the admissions process is transparent, fair and based on merit.     

As earlier reported, the Graduate School of Education will prepare leaders and policy makers in the sphere of higher and secondary education and start admission of students in January 2013.
