NU specialists work on module for Internet search of data in Kazakh language
ASTANA. June 26. KAZINFORM Specialists of the Center for Energy Research of the Nazarbayev University work of implementation of a project on creation of algorithms able handle great volumes of data and take into account the specifics of the Kazakh language during Internet searching, one of the project developers and researcher of the Computer Science Department of the University Olzhas Makhambetov said in an interview for PM.kz site.
The main peculiarity of the project is that the algorithms will be able both to structure great volumes of data and take into consideration the specifics of the Kazakh language finding relevant results and accumulating the work of both IT specialists and linguists. A special laboratory will be established in the Nazarbayev University to carry out fundamental tests.
"The work on creation of algorithms for handling great volumes of data is hardly conducted in Kazakhstan. Special attention should be paid to this sphere due to dynamic development of the Internet and Kazakhstan segment of the Internet in particular," the researcher noted.
He also emphasized that the process of creation of algorithms is connected with the other scientific researches such as machine learning, information search, linguistics, etc.
The project on creation of the algorithms consists of two stages that are resolving engineering problems and conducting research.
"A module for search engines will be established at the first stage. The module will optimize the search results for the Kazakh language taking into account the specifics of the Kazakh language - morphological, syntactic and semantic meaning of a searched text," the researcher said.
The second scientific stage implies development of a methodology of creation of such algorithms and establishment of a laboratory and a team of scientists who will deal with the algorithms creation issues. It is worth noting that 2 algorithms have already been created and tested successfully.
Olzhas Makhambetov believes that the project will give an impetus for development of both the IT sector and the Kazakh segment of the Internet.
