Norway hails opening of Kazakh embassy in Oslo
ASTANA. March 23. KAZINFORM Visit to Oslo became the last destination of Foreign Minister Idrissov's Northern Tour.
According to the President Nazarbayev's assignment on the intensive economization of the foreign policy, the key message of the Kazakhstan delegation in Finland, Sweden and Norway was the same - our country aims to attract more "environmentally clean" technologies in the context of development of the "green" economy and the forthcoming EXPO-2017, Kazinform has learnt from the press service of the Kazakh MFA.
First event of E.Idrissov's visit to Oslo was his meeting with The Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy Ola Borten Moe. They discussed cooperation in the traditional spheres, including oil and gas, renewable energy sources - hydro energy (97% of the electric power in Norway is produced using its water resources) and biofuel. The heads of two Ministries agreed on further cooperation in order to attract the Norway expertise and technologies for development of the environmentally friendly and innovative energy sector in Kazakhstan.
Then the Minister Idrissov had a meeting with Marit Nybakk, Vice President of the Storting, the Norway Parliament. During these talks they discussed the inter-parliamentary interaction, nuclear non-proliferation, regional cooperation, etc. M.Nybakk positively emphasized the intensive exchange of delegations of various levels between Kazakhstan and Norway, and expressed her hope for further development of the bilateral relationship.
At his meeting with Espen Barth Eide, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, E.Idrissov discussed a wide range of the bilateral and international issues, including enhancement of the bilateral trade turnover, Iran nuclear program related talks, aid to Afghanistan and cooperation of the Central Asia. E.Eide highly appreciated the forthcoming opening of the full-fledged Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Norway this year.
Within the frameworks of his visit Erlan Idrissov delivered his speech at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs about development and strengthening of the bilateral relations. The Foreign Minister also was interviewed by «Dagens Næringsliv» daily newspaper and the national television channel of Norway.
