“Northern lights” in Kostanay region amaze locals
Residents of Kostanay region сaught an unusual phenomenon on their cameras. Footage of a mesmerizing glow in the night spread on social media, Kazinform News Agency reports. Netizens share photos from different districts of the region.
The “northern lights” were observed in Lissakovsk, Kostanay, Auliekol, Sarykol, Uzunkol, Zhitikara, Fedorovsky and Mendygara districts, where the night sky was painted in a red-green gradient.
The unusual phenomenon is reported to have been caused by high solar activity and magnetic storms.
The “northern lights” were also observed in Akkayin, Tayinsha, Mamlyut, Yessil, Zhumabayev, Musrepov, Kyzylzhar and Shal Akyn districts of North Kazakhstan region. Social media users say the phenomenon lasted for 10-15 minutes.
