Northern Kamchatka hit by 47-degree frosts

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. February 13. KAZINFORM. Severe frosts are raging in northern Kamchatka. The temperature fell to 47 degrees below zero in the village of Slautnoye in the Penzhinsky district overnight, the Kamchatka meteorological centre reported to Itar-Tass on Saturday; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
The cold came to Kamchatka from the Magadan Region and will remain here for about 24 hours more. The severest frosts have hit the Penzhinsky district in the Koryak Area.
The Russian Emergencies Ministry's territorial centre has warned that the temperature may go down to 50 degrees below zero.
There have been no reports about malfunctions or emergencies caused by the cold; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
