North Caucasus terror acts have nothing to do with religious factors

KAZINFORM. /Valentina Yelizarova/ - «The crimes committed today on the territory of North Caucasus as well as those committed against Ingush President are far from being caused by religious factors», - Chairman of the Council of Mutties of Russia Ravil Gainutdin announced today at the press conference following the III Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions.
He was asked whether the situation in Dagestan manifests weakened positions of traditional Islam in the North Caucasus region. He denied this supposition.
«It is not that Islam is unable to resist the penetration of alien ideology. The official Muslim spirituality of the republics of North Caucasus conducts correct policy of enlightenment. Today the influence of the destructive forces which abuse religion to destabilize the situation in the region is small. The Muslim spirituality has always fought and is fighting extremism and terrorism», he commented.
