No mediation for drunk driving deaths - Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan

ASTANA . December 18. KAZINFORM - According to the new Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan, conciliation of parties to a drunk driving car accident, which caused the death of a person, will be impossible.

"Inter-agency task group has agreed that if a pesron was killed in a car accident by a drunk driver behind the wheel, it is a serious crime punished by 7 years of imprisonment, consequently, no conciliation is possible, " - said Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan Johann Merkel at a press conference in the Central Communications Service. At the same time, reconciliation is possible if the driver was sober.
The inter-agency task group set up to discuss the new Criminal Procedure Code included representatives of all law enforcement and special agencies, state agencies, most authoritative scientists and lawyers of Kazakhstan.
