New TPP to be built in Ust-Kamenogorsk
The heat energy demand of Ust-Kamenogorsk is over 1,200 Gcal per hour. In light of the city's deficit in heat energy, the construction of a new thermal power plant (TPP) is being planned, according to Nurlan Ramazanov, the head of the department of energy and housing and communal services of the East Kazakhstan region, Kazinform News Agency reports.
“The construction project of a new TPP was initiated in accordance with the directives of the Head of State. The implementation of this project will help meet the city's heat energy demand and provide a reserve capacity for future development. Currently, the demand for heat energy is 1,232 Gcal per hour,” Nurlan Ramazanov stated.
On top of that, he highlighted that the design and estimate documentation for the expansion of boiler house No. 2 of Ust-Kamenogorsk Heating Networks JSC is being developed with the objective of reducing the deficit of heat energy in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The project entails an increase in heat production by 100 Gcal per hour.
“An investment agreement has been concluded between Ust-Kamenogorsk heating networks JSC and the Ministry of Energy with the objective of constructing boiler house No. 16, which will have a capacity of 130 Gcal per hour. Furthermore, initiatives are currently undertaken to develop renewable energy sources. It is projected that four hydroelectric power plants with an aggregate capacity of 58.3 MW will be constructed, including 1.4 MW in Katon-Karagay district until 2027, 50 MW in Altai district until 2029, and 6.9 MW in Zaisan district until 2029,” Nurlan Ramazanov added.
