New section of Western Europe-Western China corridor commissioned in Zhambyl region

TARAZ. August 9. KAZINFORM A new section of the the transnational corridor Western-Europe-Western China has been opened in Zhambyl region, Kazinform was told by the regional department of Kazakhstan Motorways Committee.

KCC Engineering wrapped up all construction works on the section, erecting two bridges, one traffic circle and more than 50 pipe culverts.

According to the committee, the work on five sections of the transnational link has also been completed in Zhambyl region. Another six sections are to be reconstructed by Akmola Kurylys Materialdary Ltd., KCC JSC, and Kazakhdorstroy-Huindai Ltd.

480 km of 558-km long section of the Western Europe-Western China corridor crossing Zhambyl region will be renovated. The reconstruction works on three more sections will be finished by the end of this year. Zhambyl region is expected to put into commission all the objects in 2015.

The implementation of the Western European-Western China project started in 2010. The 825-billion tenge corridor will be 8 445 kilometers long.

With the help of this strategically important corridor Kazakhstan hopes to lift the volume of its cargo carriage and double it by 2020.
