New roofed stadium opened in Astana
ASTANA. July 3. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev has participated in inauguration of a roofed stadium for 30 000 visitors in Astana today.
"On the eve of the capital's day we always try to gladden our people with new projects. Today is a special day - we are putting into commission an important project - one of the best stadiums in the world. There are no similar facilities in the region. Our sportsmen will train here both in winter and in summer, the roofed stadium meets all standards of the UEFA", the Head of the State said at the opening ceremony. N. Nazarbayev also noted that Kazakhstanis would see the best sportsmen of the world there as well as our teams' victories. "Soon Kazakhstan will host the Asian Winter Games, opening and closing ceremonies of which will be held here, in Astana", the President noted.
A football field with synthetic grass meets the FIFA and UEFA standards. The area under the north-southern tribunes are designed as sports facilities used for such kinds of sport as wrestling, boxing, gymnastics, judo and karate. The tribunes are located in the two levels: the upper level has 14 000 seats and the lower level has 16 000 seats. Between them are VIP zones.
