"The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan continuously works to expand flight geography and increase the frequency of flights on existing routes. Starting from May 29 this year, the Kazakh airline 'SCAT' plans to launch a new route to Egypt - from Shymkent to Cairo," said the ministry's press service.

Flights will be operated twice a week (on Mondays and Wednesdays) using Boeing 737-800 and Boeing MAX 8 aircraft.

It is expected that the new flights will promote further development of trade, economic, business, and tourism cooperation between the two countries.

Earlier, it was reported that direct flights are set to be launched from Almaty to New York and Tokyo starting this year.
