ASTANA. May 25. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ It is necessary to restore and increase the volume of trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Turkey which decreased in connection with the world financial economic crisis. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has made it public following the meeting with Turkish President Abdullah Gul today.
"Meetings at the highest level between the two countries are held regularly. This demonstrates close relations between the two countries", N.Nazarbayev said.
The President noted that the Strategic partnership Agreement signed within his visit to Turkey last year will promote expansion and strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Turkey.
He also expressed confidence that the current visit of President A.Gul to Kazakhstan will give great impetus to bilateral relations development.
N.Nazarbayev also noted that the most important issues of cooperation development between the two countries were discussed at the meeting with the Turkish President.
According to him, Turkey is one of the leading partners of Kazakhstan. Mutual trade turnover reached USD 2.9 bln in 2008. The trade turnover affected by the world crisis decreased to USD 1.4 bln in 2009.
