Nearly 27,000 lost jobs in Moscow last year ? official statistics

MOSCOW. January 14. KAZINFORM As at December 31, 2008 a total of 22,900 men and women were officially registered as jobless in Moscow, but this figure does not include those who were dismissed but did not apply for registration.
The Moscow city?s department of the state employment service has told Itar-Tass its data bank has 164,000 vacancies.
?In 2008 more than 1,100 employers in Moscow made a decision to axe 26,400 jobs, the department said, Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.
