Nazarbayev surveyed development progress of Shymkent Industrial Zone
SHYMKENT. September 28. KAZINFORM /Tatyana Pylayeva/ Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has got acquainted with the progress of construction of an industrial zone in Shymkent.
The Industrial Zone of Shymkent is a large industrial project initiated by South Kazakhstan region authorities. "Its main purpose is to use existing infrastructure of the former phosphorus plant for the construction of mew modern enterprises", Chief of South Kazakhstan Entrepreneurship and Industry Department Nurzhan Altayev said.
Presently, about 30 enterprises are operating here, while 200 hectares are still free. 13 more projects have already been approved by the regional Akimat. One of the projects is the construction of a packaging material plant built by Turkish investors.
The main requirement to the projects is modern and competitive production. The priority directions are oil products, mineral and chemical fertilizers, paper, bricks, construction equipment, etc.
