Nazarbayev praises high level of political, economic cooperation with Lithuania

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has held a meeting with Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius in Astana today.

At the meeting, the sides discussed the issues of bilateral cooperation, paying special attention to economic and investment spheres. Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev thanked the Lithuanian Prime Minister for coming to Astana to participate in the 8th Astana Economic Forum which had been launched as a timely response to the 2007-2009 global economic crisis. "3,000 delegates from 90 countries are to participate in the forum. At the event we will talk about the measures made by Kazakhstan to develop its infrastructure and industry and other programs implemented in the country," the Kazakh President said. Nursultan Nazarbayev went on to praise the high level of political dialogue and economic cooperation between the two countries. "We've always enjoyed good relations with Lithuania. I hope that your visit will boost further expansion of bilateral cooperation," President Nazarbayev added. Prime Minister Butkevičius, in turn, expressed gratitude to Nursultan Nazarbayev for significant contribution to strengthening and development of the Lithuanian-Kazakh ties. "Kazakhstan is Lithuania's key partner in Central Asia," the Lithuanian politician said. He also congratulated Nursultan Nazarbayev who was reelected President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and expressed confidence that the country will achieve its ambitious goals.
