Nazarbayev opens celebration of Astana's birthday
ASTANA. July 4. KAZINFORM. /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev has opened the ceremony of start of celebratory activities devoted to the 11th anniversary of the capital of Kazakhstan in Astana today.
The national flag was hoisted on the top of "Atameken" ethnic memorial complex.
"In any state the flag is a main symbol that united people. Under this flag we will strengthen our country, improve life and unity of our people", the President said. He congratulated the attendees on the oncoming Day of the Capital.
Besides, the Head of the State handed over shoulder straps to young army officers who graduated from the military schools with distinction. "We introduce a new tradition of presentation of shoulder straps to young army officers under this flag", the President announced.
