Nazarbayev met with PACE Chairman Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu
ASTANA. June 29. KAZINFORM Head of State Nursultan Nazarbayev has met with Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu; the President's press service reports.
The sides discussed the state and prospects of cooperation of Kazakhstan with PACE.
"We have very good cooperation. A few years ago we signed the Agreement on cooperation. Kazakhstan's Parliament takes part in our sessions. We participate in joint large events. We need to formalize our fruitful relations. In this connection we proposed Kazakhstan to consider an opportunity of adopting a new status of a partner for democracy of the Council of Europe. We propose this new status only to those countries, which meet certain criteria and requirements. I am confident that Kazakhstan meets this status, hence over 20 years of independence the country has reached significant success in socio-economic and political development," Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu noted.
The issues of the 38th session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers were also discussed at the meeting.
"I am confident that Kazakhstan's presidency in the OIC will be successful. I would like to outline the Kazakh President's speech at the opening ceremony, which showed the President's clear vision of the Organization's problems," Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stressed.
