Nazarbayev, Ilves signed joint statement after bilateral talks
TALLINN. April 20. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev and Estonian President Toomas Hendrik Ilves signed joint statement after their talks at the Kadriorg Palace in Tallinn on April 20.
The presidents note significant progress in Kazakh-Estonian bilateral relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations in May 1992 and welcomed mutual intentions to open diplomatic representations in Kazakhstan and Estonia. They call for an early commencement of negotiations on a new basic agreement between Kazakhstan and the European Union.
The sides are planning to intensify cooperation within the framework of the UN, OSCE and other international organizations.
They are interested in implementation of joint projects on establishment of a new merchant fleet in Kazakhstan as well as in cooperation in shipbuilding.
The presidents welcome the signing of a memorandum of intentions between the akimat of East Kazakhstan region and Estonian company Eesti Energia AS; a memorandum of understanding in the field of information and communication technologies between Kazakh Ministry of Information and Communication and Estonian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
