"We are looking forward to deepening our dialogue on Afghanistan. NATO and Tajikistan have a common interest in the stability and security of Afghanistan, " said the Secretary General of the North Atlantic bloc.

A.Rasmussen noted that the Alliance expected to continue supporting Tajikistan in connection with the completion of the military mission in Afghanistan by the end of 2014.

"We appreciate the assistance that you have given the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in providing overflight rights and the use of the Dushanbe airport," said the Secretary General of NATO.

It should be noted that Tajikistan was the first country in the region to sign a transit agreement for the ISAF mission. In 2012, NATO and Tajikistan signed an individual program of cooperation and partnership, which provides a framework for cooperation in various fields, including the fight against terrorism, military education and training, as well as to ensure democratic control over the armed forces.
