NATO Secretary General visits Kazakhstan
ASTANA. June 24. KAZINFORM. /Rizvana Sadykova/ NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is visiting Astana on June 24-25 , 2009 to participate in the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) Security Forum. The previous Forums were held in Sweden in 2005 and in Macedonia in 2007.
The NATO Secretary General will meet with President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Minister of Foreign Affairs Marat Tazhin and acting Minister of Defence Mukhtar Altynbayev. The Secretary General will also meet with the Chairman of the Senate, Mr. Kasymzhomart Tokaev and will address the Academy of State.
Thursday, June 25 the Secretary General will chair the opening plenary session of the EAPC Security Forum and give a keynote address. Among keynote speakers are Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakh Minister of Foreign Affairs Marat Tazhin , Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero - Deputy Secretary General of NATO Alexander Vershbow , Assistant Secretary of Defence for, InternationalSecurity Affairs, US, Dr. Davood Moradian, Senior Policy Advisor to the Afghan, Foreign Minister and Director General, MFA Centre for Strategic Studies, Amb. Aapo Pölhö, Head of Finnish Mission to NATO, Nick Grono, Deputy President, International Crisis Group, Foreign Minister of Denmark, Mr. Per Stig Møller.
