ALMATY. May 17. KAZINFORM - Raising the retirement age should not be seen as an injustice to women, it is the restoration of justice in relation to men. This has been announced today in Almaty during the press briefing by the chairman of the National Bank of Kazakhstan Grigory Marchenko.

"When we are discussing this issue with our colleagues from the USA, Germany, Spain or Switzerland, they do not understand the subject of the debate. They sincerely believe that we have done this long time ago, as it has been done in all normal countries, because equality is a constitutional concept, it should be in this area too. Therefore, it is not no injustice to women, this can be viewed as the restoration of justice in relation to men, " said the head of the National Bank.

According to him, the situation is very simple: among pensioners 72% are women , and 28% are men.

"After retirement, men live on average 13 years, and when women live 20.8 years. These numbers are very important because they are always ignored or distorted. Due to these and other circumstances, 45% of women's pensions are subsidies at the expense of men, " said Marchenko.
