N.Nazarbayev: SCO - one of the most influential institution for peace
ASTANA. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev has welcomed the participants of the IX meeting of Supreme Courts' chairman of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member-states, which is taking place at the Palace of Independence.
Message from the Head of State at the opening of the meeting was read out by the Secretary of State Adilbek Dzhaksybekov. President noted that at present the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is recognized by the international community as one of the most influential institution promoting peace, security and stability. According to Nursultan Nazarbayev, Kazakhstan pays serious attention to the expansion of judicial cooperation of SCO member states in the field of exchange of legal information, the protection of human rights and the rule of law. The session will discuss the issues of improvement and evaluation of the courts' activities, the selection and appointment of judges, the use of information and communication technologies in the proceedings, as well as a number of practical questions on justice administration. A separate seminar will consider the role of judges of the supreme courts in the fight against terrorism. It is expected to sign the Joint Declaration of the SCO member states Supreme Courts' chairmen to strengthen cooperation and partnership for the joint promotion of the rule of law and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
