DUBAI. KAZINFORM - Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev is taking part in the 10th World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF) in Dubai.
In his speech, the President noted that the theme of the World Islamic Economic Forum - "Innovation partnership for economic growth" - is particularly relevant today. "We stand on the threshold of the third industrial revolution. Members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation control 70 percent of global energy resources and export 40 percent of mineral raw materials. However, only 7, 5 percent of global GDP and 11, 2 percent of total global trade accrue to the OIC countries," said Nursultan Nazarbayev. Strong cooperation is required to adequately meet and overcome the global challenges. The Muslim world is facing a number of serious problems such as population growth, poverty, gradual depletion of natural resources, as well as environmental degradation. During Kazakhstan's presidency in the OIC Astana Declaration was adopted. The document aimed at the modernization and reform of the Islamic world in the XXI century. From this position Kazakhstan remains a strong supporter of strengthening and development of the Islamic world, the President said.
