N.Nazarbayev and Ban Ki-moon discussed wide range of coop issues
ASTANA. November 30. KAZINFORM Within the frameworks of the coming OSCE Summit in Astana President N.Nazarbayev met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, the presidential press service reported.
Nursultan Nazarbayev and Ban Ki-moon discussed a wide range of issues on Kazakhstan's cooperation with the United Nations as well as the most topical world and regional political issues.
"I complimented the global initiative of the President on nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation and the fact that by his Decree the Semipalatinsk test site was closed", Ban Ki-moon said at the briefing.
The Secretary General also praised the Kazakhstan's OSCE chairmanship. He laid emphasis on the role of Kazakhstan and President N.Nazarbayev in stabilization of the situation in Kyrgyzstan as well as the contribution to preservation of stability and security in Afghanistan.
