N Kazakhstan to build timber manufacturing cluster

North Kazakhstan launched an added-value wood conversion plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters of wood products a year, governor Gauez Nurmukhambetov told a briefing at the central communications service.

The industrial complex is an integral part of the region with the processing industry accounting for 80%. 34 investment projects worth 511 billion tenge are being developed in the region to generate over 5,000 jobs in the processing industry.

He said the Turkish investor put onstream the added-value wood conversion plant with a capacity of 50,000 cubic meters of wood products a year that will help substitute woodworking product imports by 13%. Thus, a timber manufacturing cluster is being developed at the Kyzylzhar free economic zone. In addition, the fuel pellets production line will be commissioned there. 25 billion tenge will be invested in the cluster by 2027.

The governor notes an industrial belt involving 30 entities, 90 private entrepreneurs, and 3,500 locals was established in the free economic area.

As earlier reported, for the past 10 months agricultural output made 130.2% against the same period of 2023, and industrial output hit 127%.

Recall that he tradte turnover between North Kazakhstan and Russia’s regions reached 480 million US dollars, 3.5% up.
