Mother gets 8 years for selling her 4 children

As it was previously reported, in 2011, a 27-year-old woman, born in 1986, divorced from her shepherd husband to seek a better life. Right after the divorce the opportunistic mother sold her 5-year-old daughter Kalipa for USD 200. After some time the unwanted child was returned to her mother only to be set off again, this time to her father's parents. Later, after spending the money, the evil mother sold two of her sons. She earned USD 200 for the 4-year-old son named Shalkar and USD 260 for the 5-year-old Diyas. When one of the boys was returned to her, the mother made a better deal and sold him for the second time to earn USD 380 more. The newborn baby girl was the last and most successful venture so far for the woman: she sold her for almost USD 800.

After one of the purchasing families finally reported the woman to the police, she was arrested. It was the family that purchased the boy the second time that did it. According to the woman, she did not want to sell her children but after divorcing her husband she had no money for living. She asked the nurse from a clinic in Kurkeles village to find kind people willing to take the children into their family. The nurse denied her involvement, but the mother claimed that she received the money for her daughters and sons from the nurse Criminal case on 'Trafficking of minors by a group of people' was initiated. The nurse and the mother have been sentenced to 8 years imprisonment. The three women who bought the children received 7 years' probation.
