The legendary theater will present in Astana three plays - "Enemies: A Love Story," "Happy New Year...", "Three Sisters."

The first play "Enemies: A Love Story" is based on the novel by Nobel Prize winner Isaac Bashevis Singer and tells of the tragic fates of several people who had miraculously survived the Second World War, experienced the horrors of Nazism and trying to find themselves in civilian life.

The second performance, which is called "Happy New Year ..." (S Nastupayushchim), represents the monologues and reprises of two comics.

Also, the theater will stage Chekhov's "Three Sisters". "This season artists are facing a tremendous challenge: to play familiar characters in the unchanged sets and costumes, in the same mise en scenes and the same musical design, but in a completely new way," Talgat Kolbachayev said.

Sovremennik Theatre was founded by a group of young Soviet actors in 1956.
