Moscow announces Clean Car Month
MOSCOW. April 15. KAZINFORM Moscow begins on Friday a traditional Clean Car Month action. During the month's time, traffic police will see to it that drivers keep their vehicles clean. Those inaccurate will be liable for a fine. This will be possible if a plate is not readable. By the way, a driver may argue the traffic police's decision if there are three eyewitnesses, who testify they can read the plate; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
Special attention of the traffic police will be given to trucks and heavy wagons serving construction sites.
"Their wheels and body should be clear from construction mud," a source in the Moscow Mayor's Office said.
The traffic police will identify to which company a truck belongs, then a special inspection comes to the company and checks first of all if the construction site is equipped with a special car wash facility, where wheels must be cleared. The traffic police will also reveal and close car washing facilities in parks and near water zones. Besides, dirty cars will be stopped not only inside the city, but as they are approaching it.
In the meanwhile, the winter mud is not washed off Moscow's streets, and it has been sleety and rainy lately. That is why it is quite problematic to keep cars clean. A car owner faces a challenge - either to pay a fine of 500 roubles for a dirty car or to use this money for a car wash, which will become dirty again after several kilometres of driving.
Now, there are over 2,500 car washing facilities in Moscow, but the city's authorities agree they are not enough. Recently Mayor Sergei Sobyanin ordered to have more car washing stations; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
