More than 50 children poisoned with carbon monoxide in the capital over a year

ASTANA. January 23. KAZINFORM - 53 children poisoned with carbon monoxide were hospitalize din the city children's hospital No 2 in the capital in the year 2013, astana.kz reports.

Every winter with the start of the heating season there is a clear trend of carbon monoxide poisoning increase. Thus, in the year 2012, 81 children with carbon monoxide poisoning of different severity were hospitalized in Astana, and 53 in 2013.

"Although the number of poisoning cases reduces, parents should remember about the safety measures, for most often children are poisoned with carbon monoxide because of parents' negligent attitude and untimely elimination of defects of stove heating system", notes the agency.

Carbon monoxide poisoning is an acute pathological condition developing as a result of inhalation of carbon monoxide, it is dangerous for life and for health, and can lead to death without qualified medical assistance.

It's worth noting that in case of slight poisoning there is a headache, pulsation in temples, faintness, chest pain, dry cough, eye watering, nausea, vomit, there may be visual and auditory hallucinations, skin flushing, tachycardia, and increase in arterial pressure. Each person facing this problem should bring the victim from the room filled with carbon monoxide and call an ambulance, as is advised by medical workers.
