"Budget of the road and transport sector totals KZT 310 billion, including KZT 235.3 billion alloted for the republican network. 3 485 kilometers of roads are being repaired at the moment, 2 thousand kilometers of which will be opened to traffic soon. We plan to improve the condition of 2% of motorways in Kazakhstan by yearend," the Minister said.

Minister Zhumagaliyev also said he cannot but agree with the recent comments of President Nazarbayev made at the extended session of the Government on October 11.

"The condition of roads in the country was rightly criticized by the Head of State. There is an array of problems in that sector: shortcomings in the legal framework, quality of repair works, poor condition of highways, lack of financing and so on," he noted.
