More than 3,500 legal entities to perform energy audits to July 2015 - A. Rau

ASTANA.KAZINFORM - Up to July 2015 more than 3,500 legal entities must conduct energy audits, Albert Rau, the first Vice Minister of Industry and New Technologies has reported today at the Council meeting on economic policy.

As he noted, Kazakhstan established a state energy register of major energy consumers of the country. "At 2013 year-end, 11,000 legal entities were registered. In general, in obedience to the law until July 2015 with 5 year intervals, more than 3,500 legal entities must conduct energy audits and based on the results, the legal entities must develop and implement five - year plans on the conservation and energy efficiency," A.Rau said. He also told the share of industrial facilities in the total energy consumption is more than 50-70 %. According to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the potential energy savings in the industry is up to 40%. "The transport sector consumes up to 20% energy - saving potential is about 35-40 % ,energy consumption of housing and public utilities and budget organizations is up to 30% energy ,energy saving potential is 30%, A.Rau said. According to him, Kazakhstan has begun practical implementation of energy saving policy. For this purpose, the Institute of energy saving has been established. "Today, more than 3 thousand energy regulations have been laid down, over 200 technical standards for energy efficiency have been adopted, there is also a revision of building regulations to tighten energy efficiency standards ," A. Rau concluded.
