More city residents go to mosques in Pavlodar
ASTANA. July 1. KAZINFORM - Experts have registered growth in the number of worshippers of traditional mosques, the director of the Department of Religious Affairs of Pavlodar region Erjan Rakhimzhanov says. It is the largest religious group in the region, there are 87 Muslim communities.
The second largest religious community is the Orthodox . Experts note that the recent activities of all 16 registered in the territory of the Orthodox community has noticeably quickened. Sunday services take place regularly in almost all temples.
As for the Catholic community - they are eight, the number of parishioners in them for several years has remained the same. There is soon opening of a convent, which is building a Roman Catholic parish - "St. Theresa and the baby Jesus."
The region is home of the following communities: the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Evangelical Christians-Baptists, Seventh-day Adventists, and Jehovah's Witnesses.
The religious situation in the region is stable, non-traditional-wing Muslim groups and mosques not included in the structure of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan, have not been identified.
