Monument to outstanding Russian director K. Stanislavsky opened in Karaganda

KARAGANDA. January 10. KAZINFORM /Valentina Yelizarova/ Today the residents of Karaganda city could witness inauguration of a monument to outstanding Russian director Konstantin Sergeevich Stanislavsky.

Prime Minister Karim Massimov, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Kazakhstan Mikhail Bocharnikov, as well as guests from this friendly country - people's artists of Russia Yvgeny Steblov, Valery Khlevinsky and Yanina Kolesnichenko took part in the event. This is the first monument to Stanisavsky erected in the CIS countries.

The monument was opened within the capital repair of the Russian Drama Theatre named after Stanislavsky. It was built in 1962; KZT 675 mln was spent for its capital repair under the Road Map program.

The author of the monument is well-known sculptor of Kazakhstan Anatoly Bilyk. The height of the sculpture is 2.8 m.
