Monument inaugurated to Internal Affairs Ministry officers killed in the line of duty
ASTANA. June 21. KAZINFORM - In Astana there has been held the grand opening of the Monument to the employees of the Interior Ministry troops who died in the line of duty on the eve of Kazakh Police Day.
"Over the years of independence when performing official duties have been killed 703 police officers and 21 military servicemen of Kazakhstan. For the years 877 police officers and Interior Ministry troops were awarded the state awards of Kazakhstan, unfortunately 90 of them posthumously, " said in his speech at the opening ceremony of the monument the Minister of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan Kalmukhanbet Kassymov.
During the event at the monument the Minister presented shoulder straps to A-departmental graduate school of the Ministry.
"Awarding straps at the monument will become an annual tradition," said Kassymov.
At the end of the official part the guests visited the Museum of the Interior Ministry, and enjoyed a gala concert also devoted to Kazakhstan's police.
The event was attended by Akim of Astana Imangali Tasmagambetov, chairman of the Kazakh Council of Veterans of Internal Affairs and the Internal Troops Umirzak Bolsambekov, heads of law enforcement officers, deputies, representatives of Islam and Christianity, as well as relatives of those killed in the line of duty.
