Mongolia and Kazakhstan deepen petroleum cooperation

In Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s Industry and Mineral Resources Minister Damdinnyam Gongor met with a Kazakh delegation led by First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Aizhan Bizhanova to advance cooperation in the energy and mining sectors, Qazinorm News Agency cites MONTSAME.

The parties reviewed the memorandum on petroleum cooperation, which includes a study on potential crude oil and petroleum product supplies from Kazakhstan to Mongolia.

They also agreed to establish a joint working group to coordinate collaboration in petroleum, nuclear energy, and geology.

Kazakhstan expressed interest in Mongolia’s mining investment projects, with Mongolia pledging to present relevant opportunities.

Minister Gongor invited Kazakh companies to participate in Mining Week 2026, scheduled for September 16–18.

Earlier, Aizhan Bizhanova met with Mongolia’s Deputy Prime Minister Nomtoibayar Nyamtaishir to discuss opportunities for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
