Minister of Internal Affairs took part in conference in Almaty
ALMATY. February 6. KAZINFORM /Aigul Turysbekova/ Yesterday Almaty Department of Internal Affairs held an enlarged session with the participation of Minister of Internal Affairs Serik Baimaganbetov. The sitting discussed the results of the Department's operation activity over 2009 and defined priority tasks for the current year in light of the President's Address to the Nation.
S. Baimaganbetov said the departments of the MIA had taken a package of organizational-practical measures for realization of the Presidential instructions on ensuring safety of the population, protection of rights and freedoms of the citizens from criminal offences. The Ministry pays special attention to the criminal situation in Almaty, since 10% of all recorded crimes in the country are committed namely in this city, the Minister said.
The session participants noted that the criminal situation in Almaty remained stable. S. Baimaganbetov stressed necessity of enhancement of crimes prevention including those ones committed by juveniles, raising efficiency of fight with thefts, robberies and burglaries as well as enhancing struggle against organized crimes and toughening migration control and many other important issues.
