Minister of Emergencies confirmed death of three heads of fire-fighting services in fire at former bomb shelter in Astana

ASTANA. February 19. KAZINFORM /Kanat Kulshmanov/ Today at the Governmental sitting Minister of Emergencies Vladimir Bozhko confirmed death of three chiefs of the capital's fire-fighting service. As earlier reported, the fire broke out in the bomb shelter located on the territory of the technopark in Ykylas Dukenuly street on February 17. Three workers of the fire fighting service did not return from fire fighting. These are Deputy Chief of Astana Emergencies Department V. Zaitsev, Chief of Fire-Fighting Unit #6 R. Kakishev and Deputy Chief of Fire-Fighting Unit #3 S. Abeyev.

The Minister reminded that the message about fire at the equipment storage of the capital's Akimat was received February 17 at 07:00. The fire covered the area of 500 sq m. V. Bozhko confirmed death of three abovementioned persons during the fire-fighting activity.

"Their bodies have already been found. All procedural decisions have been taken together with the internal affairs departments", the Minister said.

According to him, the former bomb shelter has its own locking devices and quite strong walls and roof which caused complications while fire liquidating.

The Minister signed an order to investigate the reasons of fire and death of the fire-fighters.
