Minister: Kazakhstan plans modernization of 80% of railway lines

ASTANA. November 26. KAZINFORM By 2020 the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan plans to modernize all 302 railway stations in the republic.
It was announced by Minister Askar Zhumagaliyev at the session of the Cabinet on Tuesday.
According to him, Zhezkazgan-Beineu and Arkalyk-Shubarkul railway lines are under construction in the country. In general, it is expected that condition of 81% of railway tracks will be improved by 2020.
It is also planned to update the railway fleet with 650 new locomotives, more than 20 thousand freight cars and 1 138 passenger cars.
