MI-8 crashed before landing - East Kazakhstan Emergencies Department

UST KAMENOGORSK. March 12. KAZINFORM /Ludmila Malko/ Security service of the air division of the East Kazakhstan oblast akim has left for the scene of MI-8 crash for investigating the reasons of the accident. Deputy Chief of the Regional Emergencies Department Vladimir Vlasov has informed at a briefing today.

The briefing was started with expressing condolences to the relatives of the dead.

As earlier reported, there were 8 people on board of the rescue helicopter. These are two pilots: Vladimir Stolbovsky and Yury Tyurinkov, flight engineer Sergey Barabanov, paramedic Anzhela Strelnik, gynecologist Valentina Tyuktyayeva, akim of Makanchi rural district Erbolat Saginbekov and akim of Blagodarstvenny rural area Bulat Ibrayev and a patient Kuanysh Kaliyev.

Vladimir Vlasov told about the details of the tragedy.

The controllers lost contact with the helicopter at 15:00 on March 11. At 14:05 it took off from Makanchi village towards Karabuta settlement. That was the last time when the crew of the copter communicated to the controllers.

Frontier services, policemen as well as rescuers of Makanchi rural district were involved in search for the missed helicopter.

Chief of the Regional Emergencies Department Ruslan Nurbatchanov joined the search today.

The helicopter was found in 5 km from Makanchi-Bakhty highway between Karatal and Kokterek villages.

By preliminary data MI-8 crashed before landing. Its wreckages are scattered in a radius of 800 m. None of the people on board are alive.
