Memo on establishment of WCO Regional Training Center in Astana signed

SSELS. June 27. KAZINFORM /Yerzhan Ospanov/ 113 and 114 sessions of the Customs Cooperation Council of the World Customs Organization (WCO) are underway in the WCO headquarter. Delegations of the Customs administrations of over 170 WCO member states and over 20 international organizations take part in the sessions. The Kazakh delegation is headed by Chairman of the Customs Control Committee under the Kazakh Ministry of Finance Kozy-Korpesh Karbuzova.

Signing of the Memo on establishment of the WCO Regional Training Center in Astana between the Kazakh Ministry of Finance and the WCO was held Friday. The document was signed by K-K. Karbuzova and WCO Secretary General K. Mikuriya. The opening of the Center is planned for December, 2009 within the working visit of the WCO Secretary General to Kazakhstan.

Besides, the Head of the Kazakh Customs Control Committee handed over the WCO Secretary General the Instrument of Accession of Kazakhstan to the International Convention on Simplification and Harmonization of the Customs Procedures. Kazakhstan became the 60th Contracting Party of the Convention.

The Head of the Kazakh Customs Service held a range of working meetings with the WCO leadership and foreign colleagues from Azerbaijan, Argentina, Belarus, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, China, South Korea, Finland, United Arab Emirates, where topical issues of mutual cooperation and prospects of its development were discussed.

The sessions accomplish Saturday with the election of new WCO Secretary General and members of the Political Commissions, Financial Committee and Committee on Audit.
