Meeting of Nazarbayev and Putin gave new impulse to space cooperation development - Musabayev
ALMATY. June 8. KAZINFORM As part of the meeting held in Almaty between the representatives of the CIS space agencies Chairman of the National Space Agency of Kazakhstan Talgat Musabayev said that the Kazakh-Russian high-level talks on the status and prospects of cooperation in space sector were successful.
In their joint statement presidents of Kazakhstan and Russia Nursultan Nazarbayev and Vladimir Putin expressed satisfaction with the many years' experience of cooperation in space area and joint use of "Baikonur". There was noted mutual interest in the continuation of joint work in the field of space exploration for peaceful purposes, implementation of the project of the Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) and other projects.
The heads of state agreed to improve the legal framework for joint use of "Baikonur" and, in particular, instructed the space agencies of both countries to promptly consider the development of a comprehensive bilateral agreement regulating the joint use of the comsodrome, development of its scientific and technological capacity, establishment of joint missile systems, staff training and participation of Kazakhstani specialists in launch services.
Kazcosmos and Roscosmos were given direct instructions on further development of space sector between the two countries, which, of course, would open up new prospects for cooperation, said the head of Kazcosmos.
