BARVIKHA. May 29. KAZINFORM Russian President Dmitry Medvedev believes it is necessary to staff Russian embassies in the CIS countries completely. Medvedev has made such a statement at a meeting with the activists of the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) in his countryside residence on Thursday; Kazinform refers to ITAR-TASS.
The Chairman of the State Duma Committee for the CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Alexei Ostrovsky delivered a report at the meeting.
Medvedev acknowledged, ?The government is not working on the CIS affairs actively enough, it is a long-standing problem.? The president recalled that he had recently created a new agency on the CIS affairs.
?I believe that it should be prestigious and beneficial to work with the CIS states,? Medvedev said. Commenting on Ostrovsky?s proposal to increase the salary for Russian diplomats in the CIS states and reduce it for diplomatic personnel in Europe, Medvedev said, ?The level of life is different in Europe, and we understand that the prices are higher there than in Central Asia.? ?But it is absolutely right that their conditions of work and other aspects of life should be made 100 percent equal, benefits included,? he added; Kazinform cites ITAR-TASS.
