Mayamerov elected Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan

ASTANA. February 19. KAZINFORM Yerzhan Mayameov has been elected as Supreme Mufti of Kazakhstan during the VII special session of Kazakh Muslims (Kurultai) today.

Yerzhan Mayamerov was born on December 16, 1972 in Semipalatinsk (now East Kazakhstan) region.

In 2006 he graduated from the Al-Azhar University in Egypt, one of the world's oldest and most prestigious Muslim spiritual academic universities. In the period from 2006 to 2008, he continued to receive his knowledge in the Egyptian Muftiate.

On October 10, 2011 upon the recommendation of the Chief Mufti of Kazakhstan Absattar Derbisali Haji Y. Mayamerov was appointed a representative of the Spiritual Administration of the Muslims of Central Asia and Kazakhstan to Semey region.
