Many countries to become self-sufficient owing to petroleum commodities by 2020 - Ex France PM Francois Fillon
ASTANA. October 8. KAZINFORM - Many countries will become self-sufficient by 2020 due to the fact that new technologies make it possible to develop new fields and unconventional sources of hydrocarbons, this has been voiced by the former Prime Minister of France Francois Fillon at the VIII Eurasian Forum ''KAZENERGY''.
"The dependent countries will seek for reduction of dependence by diversifying types of energy resources and diversification of energy suppliers. It is likely that energy revolution in America will lead to the fact that the United States will be able to consolidate their influence. And if we take into account the reserves of unconventional hydrocarbon resources and gas reserves discovered in the south-western part of the Mediterranean sea, the ''western block'' may also can hold its ground", said Fillon.
In his speech the former French Prime Minister also urged not to follow the example of Germany which decided to abandon nuclear energy.
