Mangystau rgn leads in number of labour disputes

AKTAU. November 22. KAZINFORM - Mangystau region is a leader in the number of labor disputes. This has been stated by Deputy Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Kazakhstan Kairat Amandykov during the seminar on "Improving efficiency of the work to prevent social conflicts and reduce the potential for dissent in enterprises with foreign participation".

The seminar, which took place in Aktau, was attended by the Deputy Mayor of Anuar Chuzhegulov, representatives of the General Prosecutor's Office, Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of Kazakhstan, heads of government agencies, companies and industrial enterprises, security officials and trade union organizations.

The event was organized by "Center of social partnership and mediation" Senim" private institution with the support of domestic policy department of Mangystau region.

"Since the beginning of the year Mangнstau region has recorded 8 labor conflicts and disputes. They took place in companies like "Sibu", "GMMOS Kazakhstan", "Keppel Kazakhstan". In the other regions there have been registered 5-6 conflicts in industrial centres. It is worth emphasizing that the protests happen in enterprises where there are no trade unions. If there are trade unions, problems are much easier to solve. In the whole country, this figure is growing exponentially. If previously not all labour conflicts were registered, currently they fix all of them. People are demanding higher wages, better working conditions, ensuring adequate level of safety, and it's legal. There is discrimination in wages, when a foreigner gets 10 times more than a citizen of Kazakhstan for the same work it results in a conflict. But in Mangystau region these problems are solved positively and, by the way, with assistance of Mayor A. Aidarbaev", said K.Amandykov.

According to him, only the Federation of Trade Unions jointly with the International Labour Organization and the Centre for Social Partnership conducte 7 workshops ton the topic of a social conflict in the workplace. There were other agencies that organized the holding of such workshops.
