Man gets 17-year sentence for double murder in S Kazakhstan

SHYMKENT. KAZINFORM - A resident of South Kazakhstan region convicted of killing two men was sentenced Friday to 17 years in prison, the regional court confirms.
"The court found Bektayev guilty of the double murder. According to criminal case files, he shot and killed two people in the town of Lenger with a plain-barrel gun. Both murders were planned by Bektayev beforehand," the court's press service claims. There was no immediate word on whether Bektayev's lawyer plans to appeal.
