Major street in Astana to be renamed?

The move to change the street name was spearheaded by members of Majilis, the lower chamber of the Kazakh Parliament, who believe that the street sign "Orynbor" is too plain for the main street of the city. The street stretching through the left bank of Astana city is the place where ministries' buildings and business centers are concentrated. Foreign delegations and heads of countries cross the street every day. The supporters of the name change say that as the major artery of the Kazakh capital Orynbor Street should be renamed as Altyn Gassyr (Golden Age) Avenue.
