Majilismen discussed ratification of a range of conventions on nuclear safety issues
ASTANA. January 12. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ Draft laws "On ratification of the Convention on Nuclear Safety"; "On ratification of the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident"; "On ratification of the Convention on Assistance in the Case of Nuclear Accident or Radiological Emergency"; "On ratification of the Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management" were discussed at the session of the Majilis Committee for Foreign Affairs, Defense and Security.
Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Asset Magauov noted that the ratification of the conventions is a necessary condition for signing of a range of agreements on cooperation in the field of nuclear energy development with the governments of France, Canada, Japan, China and other states.
The ratification of the Conventions will create conditions for harmonization of the national legislation in the field of nuclear safety with the international legislation.
Upon the discussion it was decided to submit the draft laws for consideration of the Majilis.
