Maintenance of peace, security and stability in CA to be priority of Kazakh chairmanship in SCO - Nursultan Nazarbayev

TASHKENT. June 11. KAZINFORM /Kurmat Samarkhan/ One of the main priorities of the Kazakh chairmanship in the SCO is to be maintenance of peace, security and stability in Central Asian region. President Nursultan Nazarbayev has said it at the enlarged session of the SCO Council of Heads on June 11.

"I want to remind my colleagues of the goals we have set creating the SCO. In accordance with the SCO Charter, one of the major goals was strengthening mutual confidence, friendship, good neighborliness, encouragement of effective cooperation in political, trade-economic, technical, cultural, energy, transport, environmental and other spheres", the Head of the State emphasized.

As the Kazakh President noted, presently the main tasks are maintenance of peace, security and stability in the region, development of trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. "We should execute decisions we have adopted - it is the basis of the SCO strengthening", the President said.

"Presidency in the SCO on threshold of the 10th anniversary of the Organization's establishment imposes special liability on Kazakhstan taking into account political events occurred in our region. In this connection, one of the main priorities of the Kazakh chairmanship in the SCO will be maintenance of peace, security and stability in Central Asian region. It is of great urgent in the connection with events in Kyrgyzstan", N.Nazarbayev noted.
