Main Trans-Caucasian road closed because of avalanche threat

VLADIKAVKAZ. March 13. KAZINFORM. The Trans-Caucasian highway linking Russia with the Trans-Caucasian region is closed from the early morning because of the threat of wet avalanches, a North Ossetian Emergencies Ministry source told Itar-Tass; Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
It is raining in the mountains, and the temperature is above zero, with the snow cover as high as 62 centimeters. It creates the danger of mass wet avalanches.
The road will be closed until the North Ossetian government's special order.
Specialists will examine the road only when it stops raining.
The highway was closed at 03:00 a.m. on Saturday; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
